Volunteer Opportunities
Hospital volunteers provide a variety of services to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center on a daily basis. Our flexible program has many options for those interested in giving back to the community. Whatever your interest or availability, we can find a project suited for you!
We ask that volunteers make a commitment of 25 hours a year to our flexible projects. You can contribute on a routine week-day schedule or assist with occasional or seasonal projects.
Routine Week-day Schedule
If you are interested in volunteering during the week, you may be interested in one of the following areas:
Waiting Room Host/Hostess
As a waiting room host/hostess, you help contribute to the comfort of patients' families by staffing several departmental waiting rooms. Duties may include offering refreshments, making sure the room is stocked with current magazines and escorting patients to another area.
Information Desk
Volunteers welcome and direct visitors in the Main lobby and at the West Campus. At the information desk, volunteers welcome and direct visitors to their destinations.
Gift Shop
The Pink Boutique Gift Shop has a variety of gifts and sundries for visitors and employees. You can help them with their choices while staffing the shop.
Receptionists for Guest Check-In: Home Away From Home
Home Away From Home is a program that provides sleeping rooms for out-of-town family members of hospitalized patients. Volunteers staff the reception desk to assist guests with registration, explain safety guidelines and help welcome overnight guests by stocking guest baskets and prepping rooms for new guests.
Nourishment Cart
Every one can benefit from a little pick-me-up, and these volunteers visit patient rooms during the week and provide snacks and refreshments. Patients without dietary restrictions are offered juice, coffee and tea.
Library Carts
The library cart is stocked by volunteers who deliver books to patients on various floors.
Occasional Volunteers
If you cannot volunteer on a consistent basis, we have plenty of opportunities for you to be involved at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Volunteers can help with various clerical and administrative requests, including updating the organization's scrapbooks. Volunteers also act as greeters and help with registration for hospital events.
Seasonal Projects
If you find yourself with some extra time on your hands, we have many annual events that can benefit from additional help.
Breakfast with Santa
Come interact with children of all ages! This annual event consists of preparing for more than 250 children and their families to spend a Saturday morning in December with Santa. Volunteers help serve breakfast.
Holiday Gift Wrap
Volunteers are needed to help wrap gifts from the day after Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve. This is the hospital's largest off-site fundraiser. Volunteers make bows, wrap gifts and staff the booth at the Frontier Mall. This is a great opportunity to get into the holiday spirit!
Health and Wellness Expo
This annual one-day event is a community-wide health screening. Volunteers serve as greeters and registrars and help to hand out results of health screenings in sealed envelopes.
Volunteer From Home
You also can volunteer without having to step out of your front door. Activities include making pillows for orthopedic patients, among other craft projects. Volunteers are always welcome to join the Calling Committee, which helps to keep the membership informed of upcoming events.
