CRMC continues to provide quality patient care to regional patients Hospital maintains JCAHO accreditation CHEYENNE – The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) has preliminarily awarded Cheyenne Regional Medical Center (CRMC) full JCAHO accreditation status following a survey of the facilities, November 7-11. The JCAHO survey is a thorough and rigorous review that CRMC voluntarily participates in as part of its on-going commitment to health care quality. It enables the hospital to evolve best practices for the benefit of our patients and the community, and reaffirms CRMC’s commitment to providing quality patient care and outstanding patient satisfaction. While surveying the facility, JCAHO surveyors also commented that CRMC staff were well-educated in the process of taking care of patients, exhibited exceptional infection control knowledge, were committed to taking care of patients beyond their hospital stay by reinforcing wellness and prevention opportunities, and were very enthusiastic and excited to work at CRMC. Patients also expressed outstanding satisfaction in the quality of care they were receiving at CRMC. JCAHO standards are constantly changing. This year’s survey of CRMC was based on a new “tracer methodology” in which JCAHO surveyors evaluated an individual patient’s plan of care by tracing the patient’s experience from the beginning to the end of his or her hospital stay, using the patient’s medical record to reconstruct the chain of events. JCAHO surveys hospitals on a regular basis. CRMC’s last survey was completed in August 2002. This award excludes skilled nursing services. |
